This is something that everyone should find out about before getting married. My first marriage I thought the same thing, but soon realized that when it came to take sides, my husband always sided with his mother over me. It’s hard to make a marriage work when that is the case and it ultimately ended in divorce.

That is not to say that family is bad. They can be a great support group if they realize that you aren’t the enemy and a part of the family instead of an outsider moving in.

There are many things you find out after marriage that you never expected before marriage.

I’m married 38 years and my husband doesn’t like to work. I need him to help with finances. How can someone be sooooo unresponsible at his age. It doesn’t seem to bother him that I go out to work daily trying to hold it all together. Help someone!!!!

While I commend you for being married for 38 years, if he is not pulling his end of the bargain and refuses to do so, then you should consider freeing yourself. There is nothing that says that one person is supposed to do all the work.

You are always marrying their family too. It’s something that everyone should realize.
