I’m not sure what you did, but I hope it wasn’t illegal as in hurting someone else. There is no way to know the background so I won’t attempt to give an opinion, but only to say that talking to someone may help.

The problem I see here is that this is a confession. That means that the person is either telling people that he didn’t mean to do it and hiding his true feelings or that he knows it is something that he should regret. Either way, it is causing a conflict that needs to be addressed.
